Hi, I’m Dr. Michelle Hu — pediatric audiologist, mama, and founder of Mama Hu Hears.

I created this space to support, educate, and empower families and caretakers navigating the deaf/hard of hearing journey— because I’ve lived it from both sides of the audiology booth.

Born with progressive hearing loss, I was identified as a toddler and fit with hearing aids soon after. I still remember the awe of hearing birds chirp for the very first time — and the fear, confusion, and resilience that followed each shift in my hearing journey. Today, I utilize bilateral cochlear implants and work as a pediatric audiologist, where my lived experience deeply informs how I show up for the families I serve.

For over a decade, I’ve walked alongside children and their caregivers in clinical settings, but during my second maternity leave, I felt the pull to do more — to reach families beyond the exam room. That’s when Mama Hu Hears was born. What began as a heartfelt Instagram account quickly blossomed into a global resource and online community for families seeking clarity, connection, and confidence.

I believe parents/caretakers are their child’s most powerful advocate — and my mission is to equip you with the tools, language, and reassurance to step fully into that role. Through practical guides, videos, online courses, and real-talk support on social media, I offer expert insights grounded in lived experience — so you can feel less overwhelmed and more empowered, wherever you are in the journey.

This is a space where medical knowledge meets motherhood. Where your questions are valid, your fears are seen, and your hope is held.

You’ve got this — and I’ve got you.

Each and every deaf/hard of hearing journey is different.

It can be difficult to navigate challenges, emotions, and the overwhelming amount of information. You are not alone and you do not have to experience the journey alone! I work to support clients during difficult times times, help them understand evaluations/processes, and build the confidence needed to navigate challenges. I can offer my opinion and share personal/professional lived experiences. I work with individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. I will take the time to get to know you, your values, your experiences and your goals.

Private coaching services are offered virtually via Zoom.

A Calendar link for booking will be provided after payment. Sessions are 60 minutes.
